Our vision is for Lambeth to be a safer place, and a borough in which residents don’t have to be fearful of, or experience, Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG). VAWG includes domestic violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, ‘honour’ based violence, prostitution, sexual violence, stalking & harassment and trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
The impact on families and children is immeasurable and early intervention is critical to our approach. All of this highlights the need to take a highly-focused, integrated approach to tackling VAWG; which is why Safer Lambeth created the Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy 2011-2014.
Delivering a programme of FREE multi-agency VAWG training to members of the statutory, voluntary and community sectors is a key output of the strategy. Through the training programme we aim to support and skill-up professionals on how to appropriately and effectively respond to those who are experiencing violence. We would encourage all staff to engage with this training programme in order to support Lambeth to deliver a truly coordinated community response to violence against women and girls.

If you have any questions about the training programme please don’t hesitate to contact me on STaylor@lambeth.gov.uk or 0207 926 4878.
The Lambeth Voluntary Action Council (LVAC) training programme is designed to meet the needs of Lambeth’s Voluntary and Community Sector, with the goal that all organisations big or small will find a training course that will help them grow or develop.
All trainers come with a wealth of experience and are well qualified to pass on their expertise in a clear and friendly manner.
If you have any requests or specific training needs, please let LVAC know as it endeavours to improve the delivery of its training programme each year.
Due to popular demand, please book early.
The Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) runs safeguarding training for all organisations.
The LSCB Training Brochure, available online, gives details of free safeguarding children training from 1st April 2013
Although Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board requires each agency to deliver its own basic awareness training to staff, the Training Brochure includes a course for staff and volunteers from agencies within the independent and voluntary sectors that do not yet have their own basic, in-house training.
The LSCB also provides more advanced, multi-agency safeguarding children training for all organisations. The range of courses is designed to equip staff with the skills and knowledge required to protect children from significant harm.
Although all training is free, a charge of £50 is made whenever someone fails to attend a course without giving prior notice.
The Training Brochure is regularly updated throughout the year so remember to keep an eye on it for new courses.
