Lambeth multi agency domestic violence, forced marriage and female genital mutilation training programme

In this year's training programme, and in recognition of the Government and Mayor of London’s Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategies, Lambeth has developed new training sessions focusing on the wider VAWG agenda. This includes new training on domestic violence, female genital mutilation (FGM), forced marriage and so-called honour based violence.  In Lambeth we recognise that domestic violence, forced marriage and female genital mutilation can only be effectively tackled by multi-agency working, and this is why we have developed a free partnership training programme.

Through the training programme we aim to support and skill-up professionals on how to appropriately and effectively respond to those who are experiencing violence. We would encourage all staff to engage with this training programme in order to support Lambeth to deliver a truly coordinated community response to domestic violence. The training programme can be downloaded below.

If you have any questions about the training programme please don’t hesitate to contact me on jholvey@lambeth.gov.uk or 0207 926 4877.

LVAC Training Courses

The Lambeth Voluntary Action Council (LVAC) training programme is designed to meet the needs of Lambeth’s Voluntary and Community Sector, with the goal that all organisations big or small will find a training course that will help them grow or develop.

All trainers come with a wealth of experience and are well qualified to pass on their expertise in a clear and friendly manner.

If you have any requests or specific training needs, please let LVAC know as it endeavours to improve the delivery of its training programme each year.

LVAC’s brand new Volunteer Centre and Active Citizens’ Hub will also be offering more courses in their own forthcoming training programme, with details available soon.

Due to popular demand, please book early.

Safeguarding Training

The Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) runs safeguarding training for all organisations.

The LSCB Training Brochure, available online, gives details of free safeguarding children training from 1st April 2010.

Although Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board requires each agency to deliver its own basic awareness training to staff, the Training Brochure includes a course for staff and volunteers from agencies within the independent and voluntary sectors that do not yet have their own basic, in-house training.

The LSCB also provides more advanced, multi-agency safeguarding children training for all organisations. The range of courses is designed to equip staff with the skills and knowledge required to protect children from significant harm.

Although all training is free, a charge of £50 is made whenever someone fails to attend a course without giving prior notice.

The Training Brochure is regularly updated throughout the year so remember to keep an eye on it for new courses.
