Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

What is the JSNA?

The Lambeth First partnership is committed to improving the health and wellbeing of local people and enabling them to live active and independent lives.  To guide the actions we take we are undertaking an ongoing Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).

This assessment draws on a wide range of evidence including feedback from local people and services. It considers current issues and future trends, and aims to ensure that by having one shared view of the health and wellbeing needs of the local population we will be better able to coordinate our response.

Our assessment is an ongoing process. As part of this we produce an annual report setting out overall progress and recommendations. We will also be producing a number of more detailed assessments and profiles looking at specific populations and issues. Current documents are available below. We will be updating and adding to these over the coming year.

Our findings

Whilst in many ways the health and wellbeing of people in Lambeth is better than it has ever been and continues to improve, major challenges remain. Our 2009 assessment has identified ten key areas where we need to achieve improvements in the way we deliver services to ensure good health and wellbeing for Lambeth residents.

These are:
• HIV and Aids
• Sexual health
• Mental health
• Housing support for vulnerable people
• Learning disability
• Emotional wellbeing
• Safeguarding children
• Healthy eating in children and young people
• “Personalisation” of health and care services
• Safeguarding adults

Taking Action

The Lambeth First Partnership has set out actions we will be taking to address the needs we have identified in our Sustainable Community Strategy, Health and Wellbeing Framework and Children and Young People's Plan.

Health Ward Profiles 2010

Lambeth's Community Health and Wellbeing ward profiles have been published by NHS Lambeth's Public Health team as part of the Joint Strategic Needs Assesment.

Ward profiles can be found here the NHS Lambeth Health team will update the ward profiles as more health and wellbeing information is available, providing further understanding of what drives the health and well being status of the population in Lambeth wards. The next update is scheduled for 2012.
