Safeguarding

a woman with an alarm Safeguarding means keeping people safe from abuse. Abuse is when somebody hurts a person or treats them badly such as taking their money, shouting at them or touching them in a way that they don’t like.

Older people and people with disabilities are more likely to need safeguarding.

The booklet below shows what safeguarding needs to happen before someone is allowed to make decisions for someone else. This is called 'Deprivation of liberty safeguards'.
