Young people in Lambeth now have a new opportunity to apply for a range of apprenticeships in the construction industry.
ConstructiveSkills, a part of the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board, is looking for people aged 16 and over to fill positions in the trade. The move is designed to attract potential apprentices into a wider range of fields within the building trade - not just bricklaying and carpentry roles, which often fill up quickly.
Paul Newitt, ConstructionsSkills' apprentice manager for London said: ' The obvious trades most young people are aware of such as bricklaying and carpentry are being filled very quickly, however, more specialist trades like maintenance operators and plant mechanics are taking much longer to fill'.
This initiative is good news if you're already interested in a career in this sector, but if not, it could still benefit you in other ways.
