Join us for a series of workshops in November and December 2010 to tell us what action our partnership needs to take to reduce child poverty in Lambeth
The case for tackling child poverty in Lambeth is clear: 21,000 children and young people living in poverty; large pockets of families facing financial exclusion; nearly 21% of Lambeth residents lack employment; high levels of overcrowding and families in temporary accommodation; high levels of childhood obesity and mental health problems.
We are committed to tackling child poverty in our borough. Following on from our successful Child Poverty Conference earlier this year, Lambeth’s Children and Young People Service is hosting a number of interactive workshops to explore possible solutions to reducing child poverty in Lambeth and inform our partnership’s Child Poverty Strategy, which will be produced in April 2011.
The workshops will be organised around the four main building blocks that are influential in reducing child poverty, as identified by the Child Poverty Unit of the Department for Education:
The aim of the workshops is to move from talking to taking action. We would like participants to help us find answers to the following questions:
The dates and times of the events are as follows:
If you would like to attend any or all of the above workshops and share your views and expertise on the relevant topics, please contact Roy Gopaul telephone 020 7926 9702 by 1 November 2010.
