About Lambeth First

Lambeth First is the borough's Local Strategic Partnership (LSP). It brings together local residents, communities, businesses, public sector, private sector and voluntary groups to facilitate more effective service delivery, with the long-term vision of improving the quality of life for people in Lambeth.

LSPs have been established by the government to give guidance and leadership to an area.

Lambeth First is a single body that:

  • Brings people together at local level from the different parts of the public, private, business community and voluntary sectors, so that different ideas, plans and services support each other and work together.
  • Operates at a level that allows strategic decisions to be taken involving neighbourhoods and allows for action to be taken at community level.

Its core tasks are:

  • To prepare and implement a sustainable community strategy for the area, identify and deliver the most important things that need to be done, keep track of progress, and keep the strategy up to date.
  • To bring together local plans, partnerships and initiatives to provide a forum through which mainstream public service providers (local authorities, the police, health services, central government agencies and so on) work effectively together to meet local needs and priorities.
  • To represent Lambeth to Central Government in the development of the borough's Local Area Agreement, the three year action plan that ensures the delivery of the outcomes in the sustainable community strategy.
  • To develop and deliver a local neighbourhood renewal strategy for securing more jobs, better education, improved health, reduced crime and better housing. The aim is to close the gap between deprived neighbourhoods and the rest, and to contribute to the national targets for tackling deprivation.

Working in partnership with you to bring about a better Lambeth

Lambeth First is committed to the promotion of long-term and sustainable change for the borough. It is your partnership and we welcome your ideas - we are partners together.
