Lambeth First has scooped a prestigious national award to win the title of the country’s Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) of the year.
The award was presented at last night’s Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Award ceremony, acknowledging the partnership that:
Lambeth First won the title over The Lancashire Partnership and Team Hackney who were highly commended, as well as other finalists Enfield Strategic Partnership, Fife Community Safety Partnership and Sandwell Local Strategic Partnership.
During the ceremony, judges described Lambeth First as people who were excited about partnership working, willing to focus on complex issues and make tough decisions.
The partnership was also congratulated for the fantastic levels of commitment in delivering projects that really make a difference to the people of Lambeth, such as tackling unemployment and violent youth crime and reducing teen pregnancy.
Chair of Lambeth First, Councillor Steve Reed said "We only make a really big difference if we all work together, and this award recognises Lambeth’s achievements in doing that.
"Our partnership is leading the country in tackling violent youth crime and giving new hope to young people whose lives would otherwise be wasted.
"That’s a tough agenda to work on, but Lambeth has shown we’re not afraid to confront the difficult issues that matter most to local people.”
David Blackman, acting editor of LGC magazine said, “the awards pay tribute to the individuals, teams and departments that are working tirelessly within local government to make their communities happier and healthier places to live.
"Local Government Chronicle is delighted to be able to show our support of these teams and individuals who through their drive, ambition and vision are making it their priority to increase efficiency and accountability throughout their councils."
