Partnership working continues to be a success

The Children and Young People’s Plan (CYPP) Annual Review for the period April 2009 to April 2010 has been published and provides a detailed review of progress made by the Children and Young People’s Strategic Partnership in the last year for improving outcomes for children and young people in Lambeth.

“In Lambeth the various health practitioners, teachers, social workers, police and other professionals are fully committed to working in partnership to provide the very best services and opportunities we can for all our children and young people” said Cllr Pete Robbins, lead member for Children and Young people and chair of the Children’s Trust Board.

The Partnership has achieved good successes in ensuring children and young people are happy, healthy and safe to achieve their full potential. The report notes that outcomes for children, young people and their families are improving fast in Lambeth.

However, the Partnership as a whole is mindful that it can expect the pressure of demand for services to continue to grow over the next three to four years. The predicted growth in child population and a reduction in funding and resources made available to deliver key priorities will continue to present challenges for all partners

The Partnership is committed to joint working and is currently discussing the priorities for the new CYPP from April 2011.

“This Annual Review confirms that the Children’s Trust Board is continuing to collectively meet the challenges that are placed before us,” said Cllr Robbins. “There will be further demands in the future, and next year’s fine-tuning of the priorities in the Children and Young People’s plan will guarantee that we maintain our unrelenting focus on ensuring every child can fulfil their potential in this borough”.
