Community safety messages keep residents alert

Lambeth residents can now stay updated on local emergencies by signing up to receive text messages and email alerts from the police.

The London-wide CommunitySafe scheme allows anyone living or working in the borough to register for the alerts which announce when and where a critical incident has happened, details about road blocks and cordons, or crime prevention messages.

Users can choose which types of emergency information they want to receive by signing up to various groups.  Website and email alerts are free while text messages cost 12p each.

CommunitySafe is a joint scheme by the Metropolitan Police and London councils, giving vital information about emergencies or disruption in the borough.

For further information and to sign up to CommunitySafe please go to www.communitysafe.gov.uk
