Inaugural Place Survey – Information for residents

In early October a randomly selected sample of residents across Lambeth will receive a questionnaire asking about what it is like living in their local area.

If you receive the survey, please take the time to complete it and return it in the freepost envelope.  It doesn’t matter if you have just moved into the area or if you don’t pay council tax. Lambeth First wants to hear the views of everybody who has been sent a questionnaire. As the local strategic partnership we need to know what you think so that we can be sure we are dealing with the issues and concerns that matter to Lambeth residents.

All councils across the country will be undertaking a similar survey at the same time so residents in Lambeth will be able to compare their views on local quality of life with those of residents from across the country.

The questionnaire asks for people’s opinions about a number of aspects of the quality of life in their local area such as community safety, opportunities to get involved in local decision-making, respect and consideration, and local public services.

The survey will also repeat questions that have been asked in past surveys in Lambeth so that Lambeth First can see how people’s views have changed, as a way of checking whether actions taken in an area have resulted in the right outcomes for local people, for example: do people feel happier, healthier and safer?

The information gathered in the survey will supply the data by which the performance of the council, police, PCT and other partners will be measured against some of the new national indicators of performance.

An independent research agency, Ipsos MORI, will be carrying out the survey on behalf of Lambeth First and will ensure the confidentiality of individual responses from Lambeth First and all partners.

If you receive the survey and have any questions or concerns about it you can contact the Ipsos MORI survey telephone helpline on FREEPHONE  0808 238 5402  (please note this is the correct number, there is an error in the number given in the letter on the front page of the questionnaire), or you can email having.your.say@ipsos-mori.com.
