Creating wellbeing through a co-operative Lambeth

The third Wellbeing Network event will be held on Wednesday 6 October from 9am -1pm at Stockwell YMCA.

The theme of this event will be 'Creating wellbeing through a co-operative Lambeth' and we will be examining how the plans in the borough for a cooperative approach can improve people's wellbeing through empowerment, community leadership and involvement in local democracy.

A small but growing body of research suggests that community empowerment has the potential to improve wellbeing. How effectively local democracy and community empowerment promotes and protects wellbeing seems to be related to the extent to which they successfully:

Facilitate increased contact between neighbours
Provide more opportunities for residents to influence decisions affecting local neighbourhood
Improve knowledge of the local democratic process
Offer support from public bodies to help residents exercise control over local circumstances

This event will give you an opportunity to:

Find out how local democracy and neighbourliness can improve wellbeing
Influence plans for the co-operative council in Lambeth
Meet together with colleagues to share practice about how to promote good wellbeing
