Lambeth First has been awarded more than £1.2 million to help 18-24 year olds into local work, under the Future Jobs Fund (FJF). The new central government funding will help create 198 new jobs in the borough over the next six months for young people who would normally be at risk of becoming long-term unemployed.
The FJF programme aimes to provide a lasting change for youth unemployment in Lambeth. It offers work experience in newly created jobs coupled with employment support as well as an accredited job-specific training programm in sectors such as environmental consultation, construction services, administration and social services.
The the initative aims to assist 18-24 year olds who have been getting Jobseekers Allowance for 10-12 months into newly created roles in Lambeth. Employees involved in the initiative will have guaranteed paid work experience for a minimum of 25 hours a week over six months, helping build their skills for future work development- making them job ready.
Jobs will be offered through Jobcentre Plus to eligible job seekers whose skills match jobs on offer. Organisations involved in the partnership include:

The Future Jobs Fund is an initiative of the Department of Work and Pensions. In total the Central Government is investing £1 billion to provide more than 100,000 job opportunities for young people aged 18-24, and others at a disadvantage of long term unemployment.
