Smoking remains the leading cause of death and preventable ill health worldwide. Smoking tobacco therefore remains a public health concern, and poses significant risks to active and passive smokers. Tobacco Control measures aim to reduce the harm that tobacco inflicts on smokers, their families, children and society as a whole. The national Tobacco Control Strategy for England builds on this to describe a smoke free vision for the next 10 years. A future where communities are free from the harms of tobacco use and where people lead healthier lives (DoH, 2010). Lambeth also wishes to embrace a SmokeFree future for its residents and has a vision which translates national strategy into a local context.
