Designed to be simple, straightforward and accessible, the website offers users the ability to access information about organisations that offer health and wellbeing services, support for carers, advice on getting personal support, volunteering opportunities, advice on financial, budgeting and legal matters; museums, theatres, arts and faith groups, and more.
While the website is an excellent tool for any resident to use, it is particularly helpful for anyone who receives a personal social care budget (an allocation of money to support their day-to-day needs) as they will be able to find and choose organisations and groups who provide services that most suit their needs. In addition, if a user wants to have fun, "Your Care, Your Way" lists local activities and events in their area.
"Your Care, Your Way" supports Lambeth Council's desire to become Britain's first co-operative council, which puts people and communities at the heart of local decision-making and service delivery.
Councillor Jim Dickson, Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, said: "Your Care, Your Way is the most comprehensive tool available for people who want to find services offered by statutory bodies, like Lambeth Council, but also look at what's available in the private, voluntary and community sectors. The website has been carefully designed and developed so that navigating it is straightforward and information can be found easily. The website encourages organisations to upload information about new services, so ‘Your Care, Your Way' will be the up-to-date resource for care services in Lambeth and will continue to grow.
"In particular, it's a brilliant tool for anyone with a social care budget who wants to find support that meets their personal care needs in the community. In just a few clicks, you can find a wealth of services, and the website has a tool that allows you to search for services closest to your home, so you can build a package that suits you.
"The introduction of "Your Care, Your Way" supports our ambition to become a co-operative council. From the perspective of the customer, they are in the driving seat. By using this innovative resource the customer and their friends and family have the ability to choose the best care and support, so are in complete control of how it is found, commissioned and delivered. From another perspective, this will provide community and voluntary organisations which are offering these services with a platform to promote them and increase uptake, and will support the development of services and organisations within Lambeth."
The website has benefitted from the input of social care customers, who have tested the website and suggested ideas to make it better. Feedback has been positive from testers telling us the website looks attractive and is easy to use, helpful and informative.
